The Wheatley Local History Group enjoyed a fascinating talk at their September meeting, given by Adrian Gray, who spoke about the Pilgrim Fathers. The leaders of the Pilgrim Fathers originated from North Nottinghamshire and served as church leaders in the area.
Adrian provided an insightful background on the dissenting movement and explained why the established church sought to suppress these preachers.
Prior to the talk, the group held a general meeting, during which a new committee was elected. They were also pleased to welcome several new members to the group.
The next meeting will take place on Monday 18th November, starting at 10.00am. Attendance at this meeting will be free of charge, offering an excellent opportunity for newcomers to learn more about the group. Further details about the meeting will be published next month.
