‘Music to my ears’ describes the receiving of something delightful but for Ethan Loch, it was the way he learnt to play the piano having been blind from birth.
Winner of the Keyboard Category of the BBC Young Musician of the Year at the age of 18, Ethan has performed with some of the UK’s most celebrated orchestras and conductors throughout the UK. BBC Scotland commissioned the TV documentary ‘Ethan Loch: Making Music Talk’ in 2024, following him throughout his journey of composing a new concerto.
As well as performing nationally and internationally, Ethan is currently enjoying his undergraduate study at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He will soon be playing compositions by Liszt, Chopin and Revel for The Scunthorpe and North Lincolnshire Concert Society.
The society has been staging world-class events since 1949 and this season’s programme of concerts promises another spectacular year. Artists from around the globe will showcase instruments from guitar, trombone and strings. Music has the power to transform any mood and change any landscape so let yourself be moved.
Ethan starts the season on Friday 11th October at 7.30pm. Single tickets cost just £18.00. For real value for money, an annual membership subscription is £90.00 for seven concerts. Children attend free with an accompanying adult.
Concerts are held at Outwood Academy Foxhills, Foxhills Road, Scunthorpe DN15 8LJ. For full details, visit www.scunthorpe-concert-society.co.uk.
