Spring is on its way and the nights are getting lighter; it is always good to focus on the positives at St Barnabas Hospice and they have many new and exciting events and activities that you may wish to get involved with.
Do you want to get involved with the charity’s 40th year birthday celebrations? Their ‘40 for 40 Challenge’ is a great way to start, with supporters from all demographics able to say ‘Happy Birthday’ whilst raising money or donating to the hospice. The challenge could not be easier; simply choose one of their suggested themed activities or create your own. Once you have decided your chosen activity (maybe a walk, run, volunteer 40 hours or simply giving up something for 40 days) you can either create an online giving page to raise sponsorship or simply donate directly to the hospice instead!
Feeling adventurous? Why not take to the skies with a St Barnabas wing walk or skydive? Enjoy free falling into the clouds below, skydiving down through the air at over 120mph looking at the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside. Make 2022 the year you tick skydiving off your bucket list and help raise money for people living with a life-limiting or terminal illness across Lincolnshire. St Barnabas have availability on 25th June, 3rd July or 10th September for skydiving and wing walking on 5th June.
Finally, the paint filled rainbow fun run returns to Lincolnshire Showground this May. Run, walk, dance or skip your way around the 5k course. It promises to be bigger and better than ever before with more paint powder and a goal of raising £150,000 for patient care. In other news, St Barnabas have officially opened their brand-new charity shop, The Warehouse. The flagship store has been created at their existing warehouse on Cardinal Close, Lincoln. Designed with accessibility in mind, the repurposed building offers a fantastic pre-loved shopping experience, a base for their eBay and Depop Centre and an easy drop-off point for donated items.
The Warehouse will retain a sense of the £1.00 element which has been popular in other shops as well as featuring designer and high street fashion at affordable prices, upcycled furniture, homewares, books, toys, bric-a-brac and more. This is a welcome space for all and there are disabled parking bays, a ramp entrance, neutral flooring, spacious changing rooms and low-level ground floor shopping. All staff and volunteers will have Dementia Friends training available to them. The shop will be open Monday to Saturday, from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
As we continue to get back to normality St Barnabas are always seeking volunteers to help in their shops.
