The Mayflower Room at Gainsborough United Reformed Church (Church Street, Gainsborough DN21 2JR) will be open for a Heritage Morning on Thursday 3rd March from 10.30am to 12.00pm.

The church’s Mayflower Room contains a fascinating all-age exhibition telling the story of John Robinson and the Pilgrims and the history surrounding the building of the church. The exhibition was created and installed by CreateInn of Retford.

The church also contains a commemorative tablet to John Robinson, known as the ‘pastor to the Pilgrims’, and a display created by Bassetlaw Christian Heritage. The foundation stone was laid by the American ambassador, Hon Thomas Francis Bayard, on 29th June 1896. The two-manual pipe organ built by Forster and Andrews is an instrument of national heritage importance.

A booklet recounting the history of the church is available at a cost of £3.00. Tea and coffee will be available in the café. Future Heritage Mornings will take place at the same time on the first Thursday of each month.
