Misterton bowls club defeated Marshall Sports Club at Beckingham Bowls Club in the Garner Shield final on Monday 3rd September by 78 points to 66. Misterton’s winning rinks were D Young, B Haigh and T Allen 25-8 (three players) and F Allsopp and J Allsopp 25–17 two players).
Misterton’s place in the final, was due, in the main, to a very exciting play off end against Wheatley Bowls Club in the semi-final held a week earlier. With the score at 56–56 P Kent, J Harlow and D Ferry saw the Misterton home by the skin of their teeth. They were ably supported by J Hunt and D Moyes.
Both the semi-final and final games were held at the excellent Beckingham Bowls Club. We are all very grateful to the ground staff and officials of that club for hosting the games.
