Boots and Bolos

During the summer months the roadworks in Oldcotes seemed to go on forever! Boots and Bolos even had to cancel a couple of bookings — one was their monthly social night and one was a Thursday evening class. The Oldcotes Thursday class (from 7.30pm to 9.30pm) has just passed its fifth anniversary, which was celebrated with cake! This is now definitely an intermediate class.

2018 saw several changes. Boots and Bolos now have weekday classes on a Wednesday in Oldcotes Village Hall (from 1.00pm to 3.00pm). This beginner class is in its ninth week and you could still catch up without too trouble if you wanted to join now. The Thursday class at the Edward Dunn Memorial Hall, Maltby (from 1.30pm to 3.30pm) is now one year old — also celebrated with cake – so it is not really suitable for beginners, but would be suitable anyone who has line danced in the past. All classes are £3.50 with free tea and biscuits.

For a fun way to exercise and make new friends you can’t beat line dancing. Because Boots and Bolos have a tea break in the middle of the classes they find that people tend to socialise more. Many new friendships have been formed over a brew and a biccy! No partners are required to line dance and, according to the Guardian newspaper recently, line dancing is good for your health and wellbeing.

As well as the three classes in the week, Boots and Bolos host a line dance social evening on the first Saturday of the month in Oldcotes Village Hall. This is an evening of requests and over 50 dances are regularly danced at every social, for all levels of dancers with old and new, easy and difficult dances to suit all. So, come along, bring your own drinks and have a fun night.

Boots and Bolos would like to thank their dancers for their support and friendship throughout 2018 and wish them a happy New Year. For further information about classes or the social nights, call Dave on 07808 931534.
