Ollerton WI’s monthly meeting was held once again on the first Thursday of the month and was well attended. Speaker Philip Braun gave a very interesting and entraining talk entitled ‘A Slight Misunderstanding’.
The 16th October saw the unveiling of the Ollerton WI 100th birthday bench on Wellow Road, with Nottinghamshire president Helen Rose and the Mayor of Ollerton cutting the ribbon. Afterwards at the Jubilee Hall there were tea and cakes, plus a chance for members to show what crafts they had been doing during lockdown.
The WI also entered the Scarecrow Competition held in Ollerton, producing two scarecrows placed outside Ollerton Library. Pictures of both events will follow.
November sees Ollerton WI’s 100th birthday party, with the theme ‘Putting on the Ritz’. With Johnny Victory and the WI ladies dressing up in 1920s costumes, there is sure to be much fun!
The WI is pleased to get chances to meet and see its members again. If you are interested in seeing how they work, please go along to one of their monthly meetings, where you will be warmly welcomed. Ollerton WI meets every first Thursday of the month, from 7.15pm to 9.45pm, at Jubilee Hall, Wellow Road, Ollerton. Visitors and new members always welcome!
