In August Ollerton WI members enjoyed a talk about ‘Tax care and Toy Boys’. It was very interesting and well attended. Their September talk was ‘Curling a Road to the Olympics’, when the speaker was Glenda Barrowman.
The group’s October speaker is Paul Vickers talking about the ‘History of Magic’. There is always have such a wide variety of speakers throughout the year — thanks to Sandra Shiel, the program secretary.
Ollerton WI had their summer outing in July to the well dressing in Derbyshire, which was also very well attended. It was a great evening, lovely weather and a lovely supper which was provided by the Bakewell WI. A big thank you to them.
The WI have a county quiz once a year where all WIs can enter teams, Ollerton WI entered four teams and one of the teams, which called themselves Ollerton Owlers, were clever enough to win on this occasion.
On 18th October, Ollerton WI is hosting a group meeting, when they invite WIs from other areas to supper and have a good get together. In December the group looks forward to their Christmas dinner and also a Christmas shopping trip to Leeds.
If you fancy darts, Ollerton WI has a darts team and this is just one of many things you can get involved in. Next year, a trip to Sheffield to see The Calendar Girls is organised and a social evening is planned for February with lots more activities to come.
