Tuxford established a Neighbourhood Plan (NP) in 2016. However, since that time, much has changed, including scope.
Over time, the planning weight of a NP declines; developers increasingly say they can ignore it. Also, with the new Bassetlaw Local Plan due for adoption soon, Tuxford’s NP must be compliant with it.
Now is the time to do a comprehensive Tuxford NP update, and Tuxford Town Council (TTC) has been working in the background on it for a year.
TTC agreed with Bassetlaw to be a pilot for a new process to ensure the NP is aligned with community priorities. This included drop-in days and a major online questionnaire resulting in over 400 responses; a remarkable result! TTC’s thanks go to all those who took the time to say what they liked, what they didn’t, and what mattered; thanks entirely to you, they have a solid base to build the themes for the new Plan.
They now need volunteers to join the Neighbourhood Planning Group and help make this a real community-led process. Any age, no limits – only that you live in Tuxford. It is not a Council plan but a community one.
It is not that big a commitment – a lot of ‘heavy lifting’ is done; it involves three or four workshop sessions and a bit of local research, mostly during the first three months of 2024.
