Training, teamwork and triumph at 1208 Squadron

Over the past few months, cadets from 1208 (Warsop) Squadron have been hard at work preparing for one of the biggest events in the Trent Wing calendar—Wing Field Day. This annual competition sees squadrons from across the Wing compete in a wide range of disciplines, including drill, banner drill, first aid, archery, air rifle shooting, clay target shooting, and more.

With Wing Field Day just around the corner, anticipation is high. The cadets are determined to showcase their hard-earned skills and represent the squadron with pride.

The group’s newest intake flight has shown remarkable progress since joining. In just four months, they have successfully completed their Part One training and passed their initial drill assessment with flying colours. Several recruits have also begun working through their Blue Syllabus space training, while others have completed their basic Blue First Aid qualification—an essential part of every cadet’s early development in the RAF Air Cadets.

Looking ahead, summer brings more opportunities for development and adventure. In July and August, cadets will attend summer camps at RAF stations around the UK. These week-long camps allow young people to continue their training in a military environment, take part in new activities, build friendships, and make unforgettable memories.

If you’re passionate about supporting young people, over 20 years old and are looking for a new challenge, why not consider joining them as a Cadet Forces Adult Volunteer? They have both uniformed and civilian roles available, and full training is provided. For more information, email 1208@rafac.mod.gov.uk.
