The Sherwood Forest Trust proudly marked the 10th anniversary of its renowned Woodland Festival, held this year for the first time at the picturesque Walled Garden of Thoresby Park on 15th and 16th June.

Despite the challenges of a new venue, the event was a great success, drawing enthusiastic crowds to celebrate the rich heritage of woodland crafts and activities.

Despite having a very rainy Saturday, the festivities were still full of energy and excitement. Thankfully, the weather turned around on Sunday, bringing sunny skies and even bigger crowds! Everyone was thrilled to take part in the amazing activities and demonstrations.

The festival showcased an array of traditional crafts and skills, including spoon carving, wheelwrighting, medieval reenactments, willow weaving, archery, and axe throwing. Visitors of all ages enjoyed hands-on experiences with forest school activities and pottery throwing, immersing themselves in the unique blend of history and nature for which the Woodland Festival is known.

The Sherwood Forest Trust’s own circus tent, run by Lynn and her son, Luca, was as popular as ever, and a fantastic centre point of the festival.

“We are thrilled with the turnout and the great feedback from our visitors,” said Jessica Smith Launay, Marketing and Communications Officer of the Sherwood Forest Trust. “Moving the festival to Thoresby Park had its own set of challenges, but the beauty and history of the Walled Garden made it a perfect setting for our milestone 10th anniversary.

“We’re already looking forward to planning the 11th edition of the festival at this stunning location.”

The Sherwood Forest Trust extends its gratitude to all the traders, entertainers, and visitors who made the festival memorable. The success of this year’s event highlights the community’s strong support and enthusiasm for preserving and celebrating woodland heritage.

Planning for the next Woodland Festival at Thoresby Park is underway, promising even more exciting activities and demonstrations. Stay tuned for updates.
