August for the Dukeries Singers included leading the hymn singing at St Paulinus Church at a family funeral, performing for those attending the 40th Anniversary Festival at Edwinstowe Village Hall and participating at a Singalong event at the Methodist Church in Ollerton.
The Dukeries Singers are always happy to help with emotional comfort, solace and support to those suffering bereavement in these difficult times; singing together is a good therapy and creates a sense of unity and wellbeing. Celebrating 40 years of the Edwinstowe Village Hall Summer Festival was a milestone that saw Dukeries Singers entertaining visitors while they enjoyed their refreshments in the Village Hall. This was also the final performance conducted by Vicki Melling, Musical Director.
Dukeries Singers and the Jubilee Ukelele Group sang and played at the Methodist Church, Ollerton Singalong featuring hits by George Formby, Mungo Jerry, Morecambe and Wise, Elvis, The Beatles and many more. Dukeries Singers Lead Bass Singer Phil Robinson took everyone back to the Boogie and Rock ‘n Roll era with his Honky-Tonk piano renditions of Rock Around The Clock, Blue Suede Shoes, Hound Dog and many more classics.

The Dukeries Singers is keen to welcome new and additional singers to the male and female inclusive choir. Their new Musical Director, John Pope, now has the baton and is establishing a new way forward in consultation with the choir committee and its singers.
Non-members who want to see and hear the Singers practising can go along to one or two of their regular practice sessions to discover if it all appeals to them. Light refreshments are usually available.
