June Summer Concert

The Dukeries Singers’ Summer Concert will be on Saturday 15th June, 7.00pm at Jubilee Hall, A616 Wellow Road, Ollerton NG22 9AP.

After their sell-out Christmas concert, Dukeries Singers are hoping this will be just as popular. Special guest performers The Gentlemen will also be thrilling the audience once again with their harmonies.

The Singers’ own male voices promise laughs galore with a solo rendition of Paddy and the Bricks by Danny Twomey and a take on Is This the Way to Amarillo by the combined basses and tenors.

Another highlight promises to be a complete harmony by sopranos, contraltos, tenors and basses for a performance of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah.

The customary buffet is included in the cost of £10.00 per person. Tickets can be obtained from any member of the Dukeries Singers or from Committee member Barry Callieu on 01623 822200 or

Long-Service Certificates

Well-deserved accolades were showered on Foundation members June Nunn and Roger Bateman by Chair John Banbury at a recent regular Wednesday get-together.

Roger has been active for over 65 years in music, including as singer (including a spell with Ollerton Operatic Society) and organist for more than one church. He is currently the lead-tenor in Dukeries Singers.

June Nunn (alto) explained her enduring enthusiasm comes from her love of singing and the friendliness of the members of Dukeries Singers.

Recent arrivals

Dukeries Singers are very happy to welcome new arrivals Roger (baritone) and Jenny Storey (soprano), as well as Graham Cross (baritone).

Recent refugees from the heat of Spanish Andalucia, Roger and Jenny are now settling in at Ollerton village. Graham is now based at rural Ossington and was previously the Vice-Principal (Community) at Dukeries Academy.

Looking forwards

The Dukeries Singers is keen to welcome even more singers and musicians to the male and female inclusive choir.

Membership costs just £10.00 per month and includes training and advice for those that want it. Non-members that want to see and hear the Singers practising are welcome to attend one or two of their regular practice sessions to discover if it all appeals to them.

Practice sessions take place every Wednesday at the Methodist Church Hall on Forest Road, New Ollerton at 7.00pm. Light refreshments are usually available.
