The Dukeries Community Band – new term new start

by | 16 September 2023 | Hobbies, Music, Sherwood

September sees The Dukeries Community Band back rehearsing after their summer break. So, this is the perfect time to join them.

Does the thought of playing in a band excite or terrify you? It doesn’t matter which answer you give to this question, The Dukeries Community Band could be the place for you to grow your musical skills and enjoy yourself at the same time.

They are a community wind band comprising of brass, woodwind and percussion instruments. New players are welcome to any of their rehearsals to join in straight away or just to listen (there’s no audition).

They are always happy to have new players, of any age. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t played for a while, or have started to learn fairly recently, although you must be able to read music.

They rehearse each Tuesday during term time at the Dukeries Academy, New Ollerton from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. Their ever-increasing repertoire features pop to classical with lots in between, so there is plenty for everyone to enjoy.

They are currently rehearsing for their popular Proms Concert to be held on 17th November. This will feature the band along with special guests. More details will be published in future issues.

Their concerts support the local community and charities. They are always happy to hear from organisations who would like the Band to play for them.
