Does the thought of playing in a band excite or terrify you? It doesn’t matter which answer you give to this question, The Dukeries Community Band could be the place for you to grow your musical skills and enjoy yourself at the same time.
This is a community wind band comprising brass, woodwind and percussion instruments. New players are welcome to come down to rehearsals to join in straight away or just to listen. The Band is always happy to have new players of any age (current range is 11 to over 80!) and they don’t audition.
It doesn’t matter if you haven’t played for a while, or have started to learn fairly recently. The Band only requires that you can read music, want to improve, can attend rehearsals and are able to play in their concerts.
The Band rehearses each Tuesday during term time at the Dukeries Academy, New Ollerton from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. Their ever-increasing repertoire features many pieces suggested by members and includes pop to classical with lots in between, so there is plenty for everyone to enjoy.
Dukeries Community Band concerts support the local community and charities. They are always happy to hear from organisations who would like the Band to play for them.
