The Dukeries Community Band

Have you ever considered joining a band? This is what one member had to say about their experience joining the Dukeries Community Band:

“Being part of the band really is something special. I joined the Dukeries Community Band just over four years ago. The band was a perfect choice for me as they don’t audition. So, I turned up and started playing.

“I so look forward to rehearsals. I always come away knowing that I’ve improved some aspect of my playing during the session. It’s such a friendly and supportive environment. I always feel upbeat afterwards.”

The Band meets each Tuesday during term time at the Dukeries Academy, New Ollerton from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. It is open to all woodwind, brass and percussion players of any age, as long as they are able to read music and are keen to play in concerts. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t played for a while or have started to learn fairly recently; a willingness to participate and improve is key.

The Band is currently looking for an enthusiastic Musical Director to work with. Their ever-increasing repertoire goes from pop to classical music with lots in between. It’s an exciting opportunity to work with a friendly and dedicated band.
Their concerts support the local community and charities, and the Band is always happy to hear from organisations who would like them to play.
