If you are interested in ‘the arts’ in all forms go along to one of the monthly Arts Society talks at the Civic Centre, Carlton-in-Lindrick, and enjoy the varied programme planned.
The Society also enjoys two extra special interest days, trips out to places of interest, newsletters, a national magazine and a holiday for members.
The July lecture on Wednesday 6th will be ‘The Culture of Ukraine’ by speaker Rosamund Bartlett.
With the advertised July speaker having to cancel, the Society has organised a timely lecture on Ukraine, its people and its culture. With the continuing terrible conflict in the country on the news often, how much do we actually know about Ukraine?
Rosamund Bartlett is a Russian specialist, whose work as a cultural historian ranges across the arts. She will talk about Ukraine’s story through the shared culture binding its people together. It has a complicated multi-ethnic history which Rosamund explores through the art and architecture of Kyiv, Odessa and Lviv.
The following lecture is on Wednesday 5th October after the summer break, and is entitled ‘The Roaring Twenties: Art, Design and High Society’.
The Society meets at the Civic Centre, Long Lane, Carlton-in-Lindrick, S81 9AP. Tea and coffee are available from 10.00am, ready to start by 11.00am and lasting for approximately one hour. Free car parking is available. The cost of the lecture is £7.00.
