Celebrating the launch on Netflix of Robin Robin, the new animation by Aardman Films, the creators of Wallace and Gromit, made in collaboration with the RSPB. Sherwood Forest will be hosting a fun Robin Robin activity trail for all the family throughout the Christmas period.

National Mistletoe Day

If you have ever wondered why we have the Christmas custom of kissing under the mistletoe, then visit RSPB Sherwood Forest where Robin Hood, Maid Marian and the Sheriff of Nottingham will be on the day to shed light on the origins of this romantic tradition.

Proclaiming of Christmas at Sherwood Forest

Get in the Christmas mood with the sound of the Dukeries Community Band and the Major Oak Pop Choir, followed by the ancient custom of the Proclaiming of Christmas by the Sheriff of Nottingham, who will be joined by Friar Tuck as they bid to be declared the ‘Lord of Misrule’.

Mark the end of the Christmas period at RSPB Sherwood Forest with a day of ‘Rough Parades’ to the Major Oak. Pots and pans required to make as much noise as possible to ward off any mischievous spirits who might be lurking in the forest.

Wassailing at RSPB Sherwood Forest
Sunday 16th January 2022, 11.00am to 3.00pm
Celebrate the ancient festive tradition of Wassailing with the Lady Bay Revellers Morris Dancing troupe and bring your pots and pans for a ‘Rough Parade’ to the Major Oak led by the Sheriff of Nottingham, following the historical Forest custom of making as much noise as possible to cleanse the woodland of any evil spirits.
