The Dukeries Community Band are planning to hold a Summer Charity Concert on Friday 25th July, 7.00pm at The Church of St Paulinus, Church Circle, Ollerton NG22 9SZ. It will be £5.00 entry on the door (ages 12 and under are free entry), with all monies raised being given to local charities.

More details, including their special guests for the evening, will be announced in due course on their website, www.dukeriescommunityband.co.uk, and Facebook page. Please keep a watchful eye out for more information.

The Band are a community wind band comprising brass, woodwind and percussion instruments. It really doesn’t matter if you haven’t played for a while, or have started to learn fairly recently. They welcome players of any age and all they ask is that you can read music, want to improve, can attend rehearsals and are keen to play in their concerts.

Playing in a band is a really good way to improve playing ability in a friendly, supportive environment. Musical Director Ray Jones has a great way of getting the best from members, and he is always so encouraging, even when they get it wrong!

New players are welcome to go along to any of their rehearsals, to join in straight away or just to listen. They don’t audition.

They meet each Tuesday during term time at the Dukeries Academy, New Ollerton from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. Their repertoire covers pop to classical music and lots in between.

Their concerts support the local community and charities, and they are always happy to hear from organisations who would like the Band to play for them.
