In December, Sherwood Forest Brass was out and about in the communities of Clipstone, Edwinstowe and Ollerton. You may have joined them for a carol or two!
They were pleased to have been able to play carols for several community events, with Forest View Primary School Brass Group, lead a carol service in All Saints Church, Clipstone and welcome friends back into Clipstone Social Club for our annual Christmas concert.
The band is back in the band room practising a new set of pieces for 2024, which is going to be influenced by TV and film music. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for information relating to future performances.
The latest from the band room at Sherwood Forest Brass is the presentation of the award for achievement to Rebecca Derbyshire. After enjoying playing a woodwind instrument, Rebecca joined the band to have a go on a brass instrument and this is proving a success.
The trophy is special to the band because the figure of Robin Hood represents their heritage and it was made and presented to the band by member Don Etches.

Sherwood Forest Brass has instruments available for every age and ability. Instrument hire is free and if you don’t read music the group can teach you. Tuition is free from a qualified musician.
There is no membership subscription. The band currently rehearses Mondays at 7.00pm to 9.00pm in Clipstone Social Club, Clipstone NG21 9AL.
