In mid-July, Sherwood Forest Brass were delighted to have taken the stage with students from The Dukeries Academy, Forest View Academy and Parkgate Primary School to present Horizons 2023.
The captivating performance took the audience on a journey to new horizons of classical and contemporary music. The concert hall came alive with an eclectic showcase of talent, creativity, and collaboration.
A special highlight of the evening was the debut performance of a composition that was both written and performed collaboratively by all participating groups. This unique piece of music is a testament to the dedication, creativity, and hard work of the young musicians through creative music workshops and rehearsals over the last few weeks. The participants have received guidance and support from musicians from Inspire Music and Sinfonia Viva.
The evening’s programme included individual performances by Sinfonia Viva and Sherwood Forest Brass Band. The band has thoroughly enjoyed the experience and is pleased to have received the invite to have taken part in this project.
The Horizons programme is co-produced by Orchestras Live, Inspire Music and Sinfonia Viva. The project was supported by funding from Arts Council England.
