Sherwood Forest Rotary Club continue to be active in the community supporting projects and groups. They are able to do this as a result of their annual fundraising events held in the community.
Recently, their collection at Tesco raised £1,200 and all of this will be channelled back into the community, supporting schools and groups such as the Rope Project, CAR Food Bank, Bilsthorpe Food Bank, the Junior Town Council and the Furniture Project. In addition, the club also supported the OVRA (Ollerton Village Residents Association) Christmas Event, the British Legion Poppy Appeal and the Love Edwinstowe and Sherwood Forest Trail.
They are continually looking for other local groups to support, so if you are aware of anyone who would like their support please write to sherwoodforestrotary@yahoo.com.
Through other events they are able to support charities such as Alzheimer’s Research UK, Prostate Cancer Research, Parkinson’s, Cardiac Risk in the Young and White Ribbon UK. Of course, they also support international causes when the need arises but the majority of our funding goes back into the community.
Golf Day
The Club’s next fundraising event will be their annual Charity Golf Day at Rufford Golf and Country Club on Friday 5th May, commencing at 10.00am. This year the main charity this will support will be Dementia UK. Once again, they are pleased to be sponsored by Jones and Co Solicitors.
It is a team event with a good prize table. Entry is £25.00 for Rufford Golf Club members and £40.00 for non-members. Local businesses can sponsor a hole for £30.00 and these usually go quickly so please get in touch soon if you want to sponsor them. They also have a raffle. If you would like to donate to the raffle please let them know. For further information regarding the Golf Day please write to malcolm.bevan@btinternet.com.
If you would like to become a Rotarian join them at Ollerton House on the second Wednesday of the month at 6.30pm or contact them on either of the email addresses above.
