Thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund, Outside the Cave (OTC) at Edwinstowe is now in its sixth year of offering a full range of holistic wellbeing activities to the people of Edwinstowe and surrounding areas.
Yoga, tai chi, reiki, sound-baths, lots of wellbeing treatments in the refurbished treatment room, meditation and mindfulness classes and support groups such as The Man Cave and Chronic Pain Management Group are just some of the wonderful things on offer. The community garden offers individuals and organisations the opportunity to experience wellbeing through engaging with nature and for creative service users Sunflower Wellbeing hosts a great range of crafty activities to enjoy.
Staff and volunteers at OTC are committed to helping local people become happier, healthier, more resilient and stronger – and to do this they make sure classes and events are accessible to all and have a good variety of sensibly priced, subsidised classes for everyone to enjoy.
Life can be tough for many people and Outside the Cave has been described by service users as a ‘sanctuary’ – somewhere they can go to learn skills that help them to manage everyday challenges in a healthy way.
This year OTC is adding even more services to boost the sustainability of the project, including 1:1 coaching; Holistic Weight Loss groups and Yoga for Weight Loss.
As well as half and full day wellbeing retreats, OTC is now running weekend residential retreats for a fully immersive wellbeing experience. There are spaces available for June at the beautiful Baysdale Abbey and, if last year is anything to go by, a great time is guaranteed to be had by all.
