Newark and Sherwood District Council and Ollerton and Boughton Town Council have taken a major step forward in the transformation of Ollerton town centre with the submission of a formal planning application for its ambitious regeneration project.
Following extensive public consultation and the successful award of funding from the UK Government’s Local Regeneration Fund, the District Council is now progressing plans to revitalise the heart of Ollerton. The regeneration will deliver a vibrant, modern town centre designed to meet the needs of residents, visitors, and businesses alike.
The proposed development includes:
A new north-south pedestrian boulevard connecting Forest Road and Rufford Avenue
A welcoming three-screen cinema
A public sector hub offering integrated services
A stylish café and modern retail and office spaces
A central open space with seating, designed for events and markets
New homes on Sherwood Drive, following the demolition of the existing town hall

The regeneration plans have been shaped by three rounds of public engagement, with residents expressing strong support for improvements that celebrate Ollerton’s heritage while creating a more accessible and attractive town centre. Features such as brick detailing and dedicated community spaces have been incorporated into the final designs.
