Ollerton WI has been very busy recently. The panto is back on track; it will be held at the Jubilee Hall as usual on 15th to 17th December, so rehearsals will start very soon. The WI does need a new place to store panto clothing; they have a short-term location, but if anybody out there could offer a clean, dry and permanent storage solution they would love to hear from you. Long-term member Audrey sadly passed away, and in her will left some money to Ollerton WI. Audrey loved the monthly competitions, so this money has been put towards a lovely new trophy.
The group recently had a chocolate tombola stall at St Paulinus Church. A big thank you goes to all the volunteers that helped make that day a success – but the ladies discovered that having a chocolate tombola on a hot July day is not a very good idea!
In upcoming events, the WI will again take part in the scarecrow competition on 15th October. After that, the ladies will be running a cake stall at the Jubilee Hall on Sunday 27th November. Walking netball, doing very well at present with 14 members, will start again in January, and on top of that the darts will start up again soon.
The committee would like to thank all ladies who have brought item for the women’s refuge. Member Sue works very hard storing and delivering everything involved.
