Ollerton RUFC Charity Fundraiser

by | 5 August 2023 | Sherwood, Sports Club

On Saturday 24th June, 16 members of Ollerton Rugby Club set off to complete the 84-mile Hadrian’s Wall Path in under 24 hours – all to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK. This was a relay event with groups completing stages throughout the 24-hour challenge.

The first group set off from Wallsend at 12.00pm Saturday to complete the first stage, totalling 11.5 miles alongside the Tyne through Newcastle.

The groups walked all day and into the night across the width of England following the path of the wall through beautiful countryside.

They completed the challenge at 11.30am on Sunday morning at the official finish point: The King’s Arms pub in Bowness-on-Solway.

It was a fantastic achievement by all who took part, with ages ranging from 18 to 65. Their current total raised stands at £1,095, with more money to come in and a charity golf day at Rufford Golf Course on 27th July to raise more.
