Ollerton and Dukeries Libraries

Ollerton Library is located on Forest Road, next to the Post Office. It is open Monday to Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. There’s lots of services available at the Library and online at www.inspireculture.org.uk, too.

Regular adult events

The Crime Reading Group meets every month to discuss the monthly book and have a friendly chat! The next meetings will be 3rd September, 1st October and 5th November.

The Craft & Chat group meets every Wednesday between 2.00pm and 4.00pm. Join friendly crafters! Bring along your current craft project or start something new. All crafts welcome.

Ollerton Writers Group meets every other Saturday at Ollerton Library. If you like writing and want to improve or get feedback, go along! All genres, styles and ages welcome. The next meetings are 14th and 28th September at 9.30am.

Regular children’s events

Rhyme, Rattle & Roll takes place every Friday afternoon at 2.00pm, during term time only. Enjoy songs and rhymes with your little ones. It helps with vocabulary and coordination and it’s fun too!

Lego Club takes place twice a week, every Monday between 4.00pm and 5.00pm and every Saturday between 10.00am and 12.00pm.

Code Club takes place every Saturday between 10.00am and 11.00am, term time only, for children aged nine to 13. Go along and enjoy learning to code. If you would like to join, pop into the library or email sfepartnership@gmail.com.

Summer Reading Challenge

If you have been taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge, please remember to complete your reads and to pop back into the library and collect all your prizes, certificate, and medal. Well done to everyone who took part!

There will also be a couple of prize draws for the character hunt and Challenge Completers, so cross your fingers!

Art display

There will be a display of local children’s artwork within the library between Friday 23rd August and Wednesday 18th September, during opening hours. Go along and take a trip under the sea as you see what’s been created.

Poetry Festival

Inspire Poetry Festival is back for 2024! This year’s festival will run from Thursday 26th September to Thursday 3rd October (National Poetry Day). With performances, workshops, films, and an exhibition across Inspire Libraries, it’s set to be a week of wonderful words. Look out for the full printed programme in your local library soon!

Pop into Ollerton library anytime they are open during the festival period to try your hand at writing your own poetry including black out poems, poetry postcards and book spine poems.

Dukeries Library will be re-opening on 3rd September. Find it in the Dukeries Academy; just press the buzzer on the front gate at the Whinney Lane entrance and reception staff will let you in. Its opening hours (term time only) are:

  • Monday to Thursday: 8.30am to 12.30pm, 1.00pm to 4.00pm
  • Friday: 8.30am to 12.30pm, 1.00pm to 3.45pm

Dukeries Library has a wide range of books to borrow including fiction, non-fiction, spoken word and large print.

The computers are free to use whether you search the internet, access the online resources, search the catalogue, or use the Microsoft packages.
