Can you write a story? National story telling week is 27th January to 4th February, and to celebrate you can enter a competition to celebrate the joy of storytelling organised by the Museums of Tuxford.
You could tell stories about where you live, an event, people or animals. You could invent tales around something you enjoy. You could write about your dreams.

This is a chance to get creative in the winter months. Awards are available to all age groups: 10 and under, 11-16 and adults. The story, which can be as many words as you like, should be your own work.
Stories will be displayed at the museums and shared at events. Entries should be made by 20th January and should include name and details (which can be kept private if desired).

Entries should be sent to Market Place, Tuxford NG22 OLA or by email to dianehunt08@btinternet.com.

If you’re inspired, why not attend the story-telling events at the Walks of Life Museum? At 2.00pm on Saturday 27th January there will be a mining ghost story full of spooky goings-on in the search for coal in the pits.

At the Museum of the Horse on Sunday 4th February, 2.30pm, there is a fascinating glimpse into the contribution of horses in the World Wars.

Entry is free for both events but please let the museum know if you wish to attend as places are limited. Donations are welcome.

Museum of the Horse: 01777 838234, sally@dogart.com.

Both museums welcome group visits by arrangement. The Walks of Life has enjoyed people coming to draw and paint its objects. As well as events in the fields, they are looking for new ideas; contact Diane if you want to discuss.
