Major Oak Pop Choir

The Major Oak Pop Choir is a ladies choir. Based in Edwinstowe, their choir members come from all walks of life to share friendship, fun, and a love of singing. They are proud to have raised many thousands of pounds for good causes, many of them local to Nottinghamshire.
They had been meeting virtually every week via Zoom, which proved to be a lifeline to many of their members. It gave them something to look forward to each week and provided a valuable opportunity to keep in touch and support each other through the pandemic. They were able to learn new songs, sing some of their old favourites, and it reminded them of how singing has an amazing way of uplifting your mood, which has been so important over the last 18 months.
However, they couldn’t wait for the time we would meet in person again, and on a beautiful warm, sunny evening at the end of July, they arranged an outdoor picnic in the large garden of one of their choir members (thank you Sheila!) and it was a wonderful and joyous occasion. At the time of writing, plans are in place to provide a ‘COVID-safe’ environment for the choir to return to in-person rehearsals, and they hope this will be at the end of September.
