February saw the knitting needles coming out again, with some of Major Oak Pop Choir’s members making some fabulous hats for newborn babies on the maternity unit of Chesterfield Royal Hospital, where one of the choir members works.
Babies struggle at birth to maintain their own temperature, especially in the first 24 hours. Donations of hats are welcome as there are many babies born each year, so lots of hats are needed! Thank you to all who contributed.
Rehearsals are now well under way on a brand-new set of songs for a series of concerts in summer 2023. The theme of these concerts will be ‘Movies and Musicals’ with lots of ‘feel-good’ favourites to transport you to a happy place. A toe-tapping, uplifting time is guaranteed, whilst raising funds for good causes at the same time!
Confirmed dates for your diaries are:
- Sunday 7th May: Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre, time tbc
- Friday 23rd June: Newstead Conference Centre, 7.30pm
- Saturday 15th July: St John the Baptist Church, East Markham, 7.30pm
The Major Oak Pop Choir is an adult choir, exclusively for ladies. Based in Edwinstowe, there are no auditions to join, and you don’t have to be able to read music. Choir members come from all walks of life and attend weekly rehearsals to enjoy friendship, fun, and to share a love of singing. Through their performances, the choir are proud to have raised tens of thousands of pounds for good causes, many of them local to Nottinghamshire.
