Local 10-year-old takes on 100-mile charity challenge to support children in crisis

A courageous local schoolgirl, 10-year-old Fearne from Edwinstowe, is taking on an incredible 100-mile challenge to raise money for Teddies for Loving Care (TLC) – a charity that provides comforting teddy bears to children facing traumatic medical or emergency situations.

From 22nd November to 22nd December, Fearne will travel a total of 100 miles using every form of movement she can manage, including walking, running, biking, canoeing, paddle boarding, climbing, abseiling, swimming, and even cartwheeling her way through the month-long challenge. Family, friends, teachers and more will be joining her along the way to support her fundraising efforts.

“I just want to help children who are scared or hurt feel comforted,” said Fearne. “TLC gives teddies to children when they need something to cuddle, and I want to raise as much as possible so they can help even more families.”

Raising funds for TLC

Fearne hopes the community will rally behind her by donating to her JustGiving page. Every penny raised goes to TLC, a charity supported by the Freemasons that supplies teddy bears to emergency departments, hospices, police stations, women’s refuges, and air ambulance crews across England and Wales.

TLC bears are used by medical staff to soothe frightened children, reward bravery, and explain procedures, offering comfort during some of their most stressful moments.

Join Fearne on her journey

The community is warmly invited to join Fearne for a mile (or more) and be part of her inspiring challenge. She will be documenting the full journey online so supporters can follow along:
