Legal scrumping

Edwinstowe and the Dukeries Lions Club yet again come to the rescue! Their wonderful members, plus a few of friends, helped out a Cynthia in Kirton. She had a few trees heavily laden with fruit and she contacted the club to ‘glean’ them so they wouldn’t go to waste. They turned up and had a great time doing it, and on top of that lots of the apples were donated to local food banks. Luckily, some were taken home to use and given away too. The club’s diverse membership is now pretty experienced at gleaning and had undertaken projects across the country, especially in dormant orchards.

Potential new members are encouraged to consider joining the club and join in the fun Lions have while helping people and raising money to support our communities. With Christmas coming up, the Club will again be helping Santa bring cheer to local families. They always need help collecting, so if you are up for it, please get in touch.
They can be contacted by email or telephone, and you will also see their posts on social media.
