The Dukeries Community Band is a local wind band comprising brass, woodwind and percussion instruments.
Rehearsals take place every Tuesday during term time at the Dukeries Academy, New Ollerton, from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. The band is open to all woodwind, brass and percussion players of any age who are able to read music, attend rehearsals and play in concerts. It does not matter if you have not played for some time or if you are still learning – enthusiasm and a willingness to improve are what count. No auditions are required.
Five new players have recently joined, but there is always room for more. Playing in the band is an excellent way to improve musical ability in a friendly and supportive environment. Musical Director Ray Jones has unwavering patience and knows how to bring out the best in every player.
The band’s concerts support local charities and the wider community, and organisers are always happy to hear from groups who would like the band to perform for them.
