Since 2010 more than 1,000 local charities in the UK have been forced to close their doors. For many, the strain of continuously trying to source funding and more recently the pandemic have meant they are no longer able to offer the support they once did to local communities.
Home-Start Newark is bucking the trend and has even expanded services in recent years to include Ollerton, Boughton and Bilsthorpe. The charity is making plans to celebrate 40 years of supporting families.
“It’s not always easy, keeping the charity going,” explained Sara Grant, manager of the charity, “but the families we support and our wonderful volunteers are definitely worth the effort to make sure we survive for hopefully another 40 years.”
As part of the preparations to mark the impressive 40-year anniversary, Home-Start Newark would like to hear from families who have benefitted from their support over the years as well as volunteers who have donated their time to help families at times of need.
“Our volunteering roles are really rewarding and we know there are some truly heartwarming stories out there of Home-Start Newark over the years, it would be great to capture that in some way as part of the 40 year celebrations,” continued Sara.
If you have been a volunteer or a family who have received support in the last 40 years and are happy to share your story, please contact Home-Start Newark on 01636 705011 or email email@example.com.
Further details of the celebrations planned will be released in the coming months.
