On 27th September members joined Elaine Hopkins MBE in hosting a new members evening for Inner Wheel District 22, of which the Warsop club is part. New and familiar faces enjoyed an evening of getting to know each other and catching up with existing friends.
On 30th September President Sharlotte hosted a harvest supper for members, members’ families and the residents and staff of The Oaklands. Laughter the theme of the evening with everyone having a wonderful time.
The Club also finished their harvest gathering of food stuff and toiletries, which will go to the local food bank and Warsop council for their hygiene poverty project. Members aimed to collect 100 items for each cause and achieved this with extras too. This event allowed the Inner Wheel to be engaged with members of the local community and show personal service to others, which is one of the keystones of the organisation.
On 4th October members attended their monthly meeting at the Hostess restaurant. They enjoyed a beautiful carvery meal followed by a presentation from Disability Nottinghamshire. The speakers did a wonderful job of explaining what they do for people with disabilities in the Nottinghamshire area. They provide many services and always provide them in a personal way for each person seeking their help, and they do this on a voluntary basis as the service has no paid staff.
After hearing the speakers President Sharlotte had the wonderful task of inducting a new member. She welcomed Ruth Harrison to Inner Wheel and Ruth is looking forward to making friends and joining in with all the activities planned.
The club now look towards its Charter on 1st November, which is breaking with tradition and will be an informal evening with a hog roast and disco. President Sharlotte wants the evening to be about fun and friendship.
After the Charter the club has an autumn walk planned for 4th November, where members will visit Creswell Crags then enjoy a hot drink at the Dukeries centre. Then to finish November off nicely the club have their traditional Christmas Fair on 29th November at the John Fretwell Centre, 10.00am to 12.30pm. All are welcome to come along and join in the fun and maybe pick up a Christmas gift or two.
