Happy New Year from everyone at The Dukeries Community Band! After a busy December, rehearsals resume on Tuesday 7th January.
Are you thinking about starting the year by trying something new? Whether the idea of playing in a band excites or terrifies you, The Dukeries Community Band could be the perfect place to develop your musical skills while having fun.
The band is a community concert band featuring brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments. New players of all ages are warmly invited to attend a rehearsal – either to join in or simply to listen (no auditions are required). The current age range spans from 12 to over 80, so no one is too young or old to get involved.
Whether you’re returning to music after a break or have recently started learning, the band welcomes anyone who can read music, is keen to improve, can attend rehearsals, and is ready to perform in concerts.
Now is an excellent time to join, as the band will be working on new pieces.
Rehearsals are held every Tuesday during term time at the Dukeries Academy in New Ollerton, from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. The band’s growing repertoire includes everything from pop to classical, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy.
The Dukeries Community Band performs concerts to support local communities and charities. They are always happy to hear from organisations interested in hosting performances.
