Edwinstowe WI

by | 7 May 2018 | Sherwood, Social Group, WI

Membership of Edwinstowe Merry Women WI has been growing at quite a rate and members have so far enjoyed a ‘Getting to Know You’ activity at the first meeting in January, a talk and demonstration on mindfulness from Outside the Cave in February and a craft/painting class with a local artist in March. All members went home with a very professional looking card or two.

In April, members will be visited by a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) and in May they will welcome a speaker on dementia. Wreath making, a dance class, wine tasting from an English vineyard and a craft and supper night are all planned for the coming months. As well as speakers and activities, each meeting has a raffle or bingo and time to socialise with a cup of tea and a cake. Most importantly, the group offers a warm and friendly welcome to all.
In addition to the 11 scheduled meetings a year, the group offers occasional extra ‘activity days’ and trips. The first of these activity days will be a patchwork quilting class on Saturday 9th June, closely followed by a theatre trip that is currently in the planning.

Meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month (except August) from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. Doors are open and the kettle on from 6.45pm. Membership is open to all ladies of any age from Edwinstowe and the surrounding areas. Membership for the year is £41.00, but if you’d like to ‘try before you buy’, guest visits are £5.00 each. Joiners later in the year are charged a pro rata rate. Visitors and members are always welcome so do come along and see what the group has to offer.
