Edwinstowe in Bloom

Edwinstowe in Bloom (EiB) is getting things going again now that the weather is getting milder. The last couple of months have been spent concentrating on planting bulbs and seeds and working on the BT site.

The next task is to get the community garden going at the new allotment on the Royal Oak allotment site. Initially there will be clearing and cleaning, and some infrastructure work is needed – paths, fences, raised beds etc. – so you can still help even if you don’t want to garden but are good at fixing things!

Bloomers are meeting regularly on Monday afternoon at the allotment from 2.00pm to 4.00pm and are always happy to see new faces. This session is just the start; they will be arranging other sessions soon, with updates on their Facebook page. If you want to help but can’t make Monday afternoons, please contact them to arrange mutually convenient days and times.

EiB will be holding an official Open Day further into spring and they hope everyone will go along to see how the work is getting on.

The Heart Trail has been a brilliant success over the past two years so Edwinstowe in Bloom decided to install the Love Edwinstowe and Sherwood Forest Heart Trail again in February 2024. Some hearts were left over from the past two years but more were needed – so the Edwinstowe Rainbows and Brownies had a great session decorating wooden hearts for the Heart Trail. The girls created some amazing hearts and they couldn’t wait to see them on the trail. The Village Craft and Chat group also held a session making hearts in the Village Hall.

The EiB Photography Competition is now looking for entries for March, so, if you are an amateur photographer and over 16, please send your entries in jpg format to the email address below. Terms and conditions can be found on the EiB Facebook page.
