Mike Wigglesworth, Chair of Edwinstowe Community Cricket Club, has been recognised with a Lifetime Achievement Award in Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club’s Cricket Collective Awards.
Mike has been part of Edwinstowe Community Cricket Club for around 40 years, serving as a key figure throughout that time and providing leadership both historically and in the present day. He played an instrumental role in developing the new pavilion in 2004 and was central to the revival of junior cricket in 2017, following a challenging period for the club.
Determined to ensure the continuation of cricket at Forest Corner, Mike worked tirelessly to establish the ECB All Stars and Dynamos programmes. Thanks to his dedication, the club now boasts more than 140 junior members, as well as several senior teams, with numbers continuing to grow each year.
Mike’s energy and passion for the club remain undiminished, most recently demonstrated through his efforts to develop a new outdoor net facility. This achievement followed countless hours of phone calls, paperwork, negotiations and perseverance, resulting in a greatly improved space where young people can enjoy sport and its many benefits for years to come.
Without Mike’s leadership, commitment and enthusiasm, Edwinstowe Community Cricket Club would not be the thriving community it is today.
As part of his award, Mike was delighted to be invited—along with other category winners – to the hospitality suites at Trent Bridge for the 2025 Metro Bank One Day Cup Final.
