Lands End to John o’ Groats
Thank you to Clipper Logistics, who sponsored Edwinstowe and the Dukeries Lions Club’s virtual walk with a £500 donation. Stacey Slater and Debbie Burton made the Lions very welcome when they collected the cheque and Ian Armstrong responded to their initial approach to the company very positively. The group have now completed their virtual journey and all seven Lions have done fantastic in their quest to reach the finishing line. If you wish to donate you can by going to the Edwinstowe and The Dukeries Lions Club’s Facebook page. All monies will go equally to the Edwinstowe and the Dukeries Lions Club and the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance.

Sleigh refurb
The refurbishment of the club’s Santa Sleigh is going nicely and the Lions want to thank Redfern Travel who put the chassis together (free labour) after they purchased the metal, etc, required to build a new sleigh. Thank you to Elaine Johnson and Scott at Redfern Travel for your generosity. A big thank you to the Academy Transformation Trust Further Education College at Sutton in Ashfield who have agreed to do the necessary woodwork required for the sleigh.
John Eastwood Hospice
The Edwinstowe Support Group for John Eastwood Hospice have asked the Lions to support them with their gala on 4th September and the club are proud to help them.

Parkinson’s Disease
The Lions were approached by former Lion Mr Tony Chapman for support as the Springwater Golf Club Calverton will host a Captain’s Day on 28th August in aid of Parkinson’s UK. The plea was to sponsor a hole for £100 and the club are proud to be able to help. Lion Jon Yarwood will go along to support. If you would like to help the charity please contact Robert Crampton on 07815 473802.

If you have any spare fruit or produce available in your garden, please contact Robert on 07815 473802 and the Lions can harvest and collect and make sure it will be given to people who can make good use of it.
If you feel you have time and are willing to help our community in various ways (because the club never know what they will be doing to help), together with social nights and Sunday lunches the club would love you to join them. They have lots of fun, not just helping people but also by bieing together, because Lions are a really good bunch of people with lots of humour. If you would like to try them out go along to a meeting at the South Forest Leisure Centre, Edwinstowe NG21 9JA on the second or fourth Thursday of the month at 7.30pm or contact Robert on 07815 473802.
