Crumbled, ie gleaning
Edwinstowe and the Dukeries Lions have been busy picking apples and pears and taking them to the food bank at Lifespring Church, Ollerton. A total of 61kg has been harvested so far and delivered to the food bank. If you have spare fruit or any other edible produce (potatoes, leeks, etc in your garden or allotment please contact Robert on 07815 473802 and the Lions will harvest and deliver).
John Eastwood Hospice (Edwinstowe)
The Lions were proud to help the Edwinstowe Hospice Support Group for John Eastwood Hospice’s Gala Day by hosting various games. At the end of the day it was decided unanimously by the Lions to donate £500 to the John Eastwood Hospice. This was graciously accepted by the John Eastwood Hospice (Edwinstowe) group.
Spring Water Golf Club
A great day was had by all and a cheque was presented for £100 to Parkinson’s UK. The Lions sponsored hole 11 at the event.
St Paulinus Garden
St Paulinus Church Ollerton held its opening day for the community garden, which was attended by the Lions as they have financially helped with this project. The garden is great and they are sure it will be an asset to Ollerton for a long time. Please go and wander through.
Copper Beech Public House, Bilsthorpe
A fundraising day was held by the Copper Beech recently and all profits went to the Lions. A great afternoon was had and they thank all residents of Bilsthorpe who attended and Copper Beech for thinking of the club.
The club are a dedicated group of people of all age groups who give their time freely to help others who are not so fortunate. If you think you have what it takes to become a Lion please go along to a meeting at the South Forest Leisure Centre, Edwinstowe NG21 9JA on the second and fourth Thursday of the month at 7.30pm or contact Robert on 07815 473802.
