Edwinstowe and Dukeries Lions

by | 18 March 2023 | Lions, Sherwood

After a tough December, Edwinstowe and the Dukeries Lions are rested and now go again for another year. This year they are changing a little bit – instead of two meetings per month, they are trying to concentrate all business and fundraising ideas into one monthly meeting.

The second monthly meet will now be more focused on social events for the hard-working members. The Lions are dedicated to helping the community, but they also enjoy a relaxed gathering as well. The group will be organising social events at differing venues and will be inviting Lions helpers, plus potential new members, along.

The first event in January was a fairly unusual Burns’ Night, organised by Lion Andy Chick (who dressed as a cross between William Wallace and a Bay City Roller). Fun games, food and a little drink or three. The evening, although slightly chaotic, was great fun!

If you are the sort of person who wants help the less fortunate in in the community, plus meet some great people, why not consider joining the Lions? You can attend a business meeting or a social night to get a feel for the group.

The Lions are looking for more members to share the load not just for work, but for fresh ideas. Why not give it a go and make your own mind up? If you have any queries or just want more information, contact jon.c.yarwood@gmail.com or 07581 265531.
