Edwinstowe and the Dukeries Lions has changed their meeting schedule, moving to one business meeting (ways to raise money, respond to requests for help, etc.) on the second Thursday of each month and one social meeting (fun, friendship and the odd drink!) on the fourth Thursday.
It was thought that two business meetings per month were perhaps putting off some potential volunteers, so it is hoped that this move is to encourage more volunteers to give of their time to help support others in need in the area.
February’s social was at the South Forest Leisure complex, where the group put together 20 hampers of chocolate to be placed in many local establishments to be used as competition prizes.
The March social is a meal at The Ollerton House Pub on their Quiz night. The Lions like to support local businesses, and they have a soft spot for Allison and her team at the pub. One of the hampers is in there so get on down and support the pub and the Lions!
