A very memorable and successful River Cruise surprised and delighted Dukeries u3a members recently, who were able to enjoy dining, dancing and singing aboard the Nottingham Princess along the River Trent.
August saw the annual indoor garden party at Jubilee Hall which also doubled as an opportunity to support Dukeries u3a’s charity of the year; the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance. Even prior to the garden party, over £4,400 had been raised for the essential air ambulance service.
Dukeries u3a Short-Soft-Tennis group have launched additional sessions at St Paulinus Sports Hall at Church Circle, Ollerton on Tuesday daytimes. This is as well as those now established at Edwinstowe Village Hall on second and third Fridays of each month.
Also at Edwinstowe, their new Sunday Social Club meets every other week at Lynds Close Community Centre and their Scrabble Club meets on the first Friday of each month at 1.30pm at South Forest Leisure Centre.
The Allsorts Group has introduced a musical theme to their first meeting each month at Ambleside Community Centre, Yew Tree Road, Ollerton. Dukeries Sewing Bees buzz busily at the same venue; where Linda recently produced an emblematic embroidery which shows off her skills.
There will be an ‘open to all including non-members’ social meeting at Ambleside Community Centre on Wednesday 30th August starting at 10.30am. A £1.00 contribution will buy tea or coffee and biscuits.
In the calendar for remainder of 2023 are events such as a barn dance in Worksop, Halloween party at Clipstone Social Club, Night at the Proms dining event at the Hostess Restaurant at Sookholme and a Quiz night and Christmas celebration both at Jubilee Hall, Ollerton.
