Have you got a brass, woodwind or percussion instrument at home that you are learning to play or haven’t played for some time? Would you like to improve your playing? Do you think you would enjoy playing with a band in a friendly, supportive environment?
If the answers to the above are ‘Yes!’ then the Dukeries Community Band could be ideal for you.
The band meets each Tuesday during term time at the Dukeries Academy, New Ollerton from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. It is open to all woodwind, brass and percussion players of any age, as long as they are able to read music and are keen to play in concerts. The band has an ever-increasing repertoire, from pop to classical music and lots in between.
Younger musicians may want to join the band for the first hour of each rehearsal if it is felt that two hours is too long.
Their concerts support the local community and charities, and the band is always happy to hear from organisations who would like them to play.
The first rehearsal of the new term will be on Tuesday 6th September. For more information, please contact at dukeriescommband@btinternet.com. Band members look forward to meeting you at concerts – or at rehearsals!
