The Dukeries Community Band is looking for a drummer / kit player to help them in their commitment to local concerts between May and July. It is preferred that the person should be able to read music, but someone who has the ability to remember the style, tempo and structure of each piece would be advantageous. Please write to the band at dukeriescommband@btinternet.com for further information.
The band is also looking for a conductor. The band requires an enthusiastic leader to guide them through new concert programmes and rehearse them in a friendly atmosphere. Further details can be obtained by contacting the band at the above email address.
The celebrations this year will include VE Day on Sunday 8th May at the Sherwood Forest Visitors Centre, the Queen’s Platinum Party on Sunday 5th June at Mill Field, Ollerton and a further Jubilee Celebration on Saturday 9th July at St Paulinus Church.
This year the band has been fortunate in gaining some new players. If you play a woodwind or brass instrument, belong to a school band or have been playing but not with a band, then come and join in! They meet each Tuesday during term time in the Concert Hall of the Dukeries Academy at 7.00pm.
