The Dukeries Community Band is a wind band comprising brass, woodwind and percussion instruments. They thoroughly enjoy playing as a group and always welcome new players, of any age, to join them.
It doesn’t matter if you haven’t played for a while, or have started to learn recently, although you must be able to read music. Playing regularly together as part of a group is a great way to improve musical skills. New players are welcome to come down to rehearsals to join in straight away (there is no audition) or just to listen.
Musical Director Ray Jones is highly enthusiastic, always encouraging, has a great sense of humour and certainly knows how to get the best from the group!
With an ever-increasing repertoire featuring pop to classical with lots in between, there is plenty for everyone to enjoy.
The Band is currently enjoying their well-deserved summer break. During term time they rehearse on a Tuesday evening at the Dukeries Academy, Ollerton from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. Rehearsals will start again early September.
Their concerts support the local community and charities, and they are always happy to hear from organisations who would like to book them.
