A truly uplifting evening of music and community spirit was enjoyed at King Edwin Primary School in Edwinstowe, where The Dukeries Singers joined forces with pupils for a memorable ‘Celebration of Music Across Generations’.
The special concert brought together voices young and old in a joyful showcase of shared musical experience. More than simply a performance, the collaboration proved a valuable opportunity for young people to build confidence and develop a love of singing, working side by side with an established adult choir. For the members of The Dukeries Singers, it was equally rewarding to support and inspire the next generation, sharing in the unique pleasure of making music as part of a larger ensemble. The programme offered something for everyone, with favourites from The Sound of Music performed jointly by choir and pupils. These combined pieces were among the highlights of the evening. In addition, The Dukeries Singers showcased their own versatility and energy with spirited performances of 76 Trombones and Hallelujah.
The partnership reflects the choir’s strong commitment to openness and community involvement. By bringing together children, families, and adult singers in one setting, the concert helped to strengthen community connections. Parents, grandparents, teachers, and members of the wider community filled the hall and responded warmly to the performances.
