Beauty’s Legacy

Beauty’s Legacy is a registered animal welfare charity (charity number 1194186) run by a local Wellow resident. They promote animal welfare and predominantly reunite lost and stolen animals and combat illegal breeding.

The charity was formed eight years ago when the founder Lisa Dean’s own cat, Beauty, was stolen. She was recovered her after a £150 reward was offered, but sadly died in Lisa’s arms hours later – believed to have been poisoned.

Beauty’s legacy lives on and the charity has reunited thousands of animals with grateful owners. The charity’s patron is Chris Packham, and they are also strongly supported by Claire Balding.

Beauty’s Legacy has featured on This Morning, Crimewatch, Scam Interceptors, Sky History’s Britain’s Greatest Obsessions, and most recently Channel 5’s Lost Dogs Live. They are currently filming the second series of Lost Dogs with Channel 5 and Claire Balding.

Staff at the charity are all volunteers, completely unpaid and unfunded, relying solely on donations. Lisa was honoured to receive the special recognition award at the annual animal star awards in November in Portsmouth, presented to her by Claire Balding.

Lisa also sings with the Major Oak Pop Choir, based in Edwinstowe. The choir holds concerts every year and has raised thousands of pounds for local charities. This year they are holding a concert to raise money for Beauty’s Legacy.

The concert is on Friday 21st June, 7.30pm to 9.45pm (doors open 7.00pm until midnight) at the Function Suite, John Fretwell Sporting Complex, Mansfield NG19 8LL. There will be movie songs, a late bar and a raffle with top prizes.

Tickets cost £10.00 and are available from Lisa on 07866 026343 or
