Still time to join Beat the Street Rotherham

by | 5 May 2021 | Exercise, Rotherham

Rotherham residents still have time to join the Beat the Street game!
The exciting physical activity challenge got underway on Wednesday 14th April, concluding on 26th May – and it’s not too late to get involved.
Beat the Street is open to everyone and has seen Rotherham become a giant game with beeping and flashing sensors called Beat Boxes placed on lampposts.
If you still want to take part, you can pick up a card from one of the distribution centres listed at www.beatthestreet.me/rotherham.
The game is completely contactless and players take part in their family groups or support bubbles and are encouraged to walk, cycle, run, wheel or scoot as far as possible within the local area, with prizes for the teams that clock up the highest number of miles.
Players form virtual teams, then walk, run, roll, scoot or cycle between the Beat Boxes scoring points with their fobs or cards as they go. The more Beat Boxes on your journey, the more points you score for their community or school team. The six-week game is divided into theme weeks to help participants get the most out of their Beat the Street experience.
Beat the Street is being delivered by Intelligent Health and is funded by the National Lottery on behalf of Sport England and Rotherham Council’s grant funding allocation from DfT’s Sustainable Transport Access Fund.
